Welcome to West Park Place Elementary!

We are a Positive Behavior Support School (PBS), and as a PBS school, we expect our students to demonstrate PREPARED, PRODUCTIVE, and POSITIVE behavior.  

Our Mission at West Park Place is to nurture a partnership between teachers, parents, and community where we develop a safe learning environment and a family of enthusiastic autonomous leaders who reach their highest level of academic achievement as determined by state and national standards.  We are dedicated to a comprehensive plan that empowers all students to actively participate and succeed in attaining these goals to become life-long learners and productive members of society.
 
West Park is a National Blue Ribbon School and as such, we hold high expectations for the success and achievement of all of our students.  We are an enthusiastic school community dedicated to providing a quality instructional program for our students in kindergarten through fifth grade.  The West Park teachers and staff work diligently to foster a positive school climate that ensures a child's opportunity to gain knowledge, develop strong character, and be motivated to attend and achieve.  

Nationally Recognized for Academic Excellence
West Park was chosen for its exemplary high performance and received the National Blue Ribbon School award in 2019, joining 362 schools nationwide honored in Washington, D.C. Previously, it had earned the same recognition in 2011. The school was nominated by the state education department, which had recognized its superior test scores since 2003. West Park also received the 2018 Elementary & Secondary Education Act Distinguished School Award.

West Park Place Elementary serves a diverse student and staff population and is proud to be part of the culturally-rich Newark, Delaware. Approximately 38% of our students are White, 28% African-American, 12% Hispanic or Latino, 11% Multi-Racial, 11% Asian-American, <1%Native American and <1% Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander.
